MITCH KASHMAR & THE PONTIAX
"HARMONICA BLUES"

“…Californian Kashmar bursts out…drawing intensity out of original material about women and drink as skillfully as anyone emoting through Marine Bands today.”
– Downbeat Magazine

“Kashmar is a mighty, tuneful vocalist who also plays trainloads of wicked harp.”– Hittin’ The Note

“Few blues singers, songwriters, & harmonica blowers performing today
can top Mitch Kashmar.”

– Living Blues Magazine

100 Miles To Go is the welcome reissue of the long out of print classic 80’s recording by Mitch Kashmar & The Pontiax, long before he became a household name. Recorded at Pacifica Studios in Los Angeles, California, the band’s distinguished lineup features Jon Lawton and Bill Flores on guitars, Jim Calire on piano and organ, Jack Kennedy on bass, and Tom Lackner on drums. Also of special note is an appearance by legendary West Coast Blues harmonica virtuoso William Clarke, who generously lends his full-bodied tone to the storming instrumental Horn of Plenty. Delta Groove Music now proudly makes available once again this highly sought-after recording with the addition of two newly recorded bonus tracks by the original members of The Pontiax as they sound today!

BOB CORRITORE & FRIENDS
"HARMONICA BLUES"

“An incredible harmonica player.”
– Hohner Harmonica’s
Easy Reeding Magazine

“Corritore’s taste in studio partners is matched by his musical execution.”
– Living Blues Magazine

“…from party-time boogies to melancholy after-hours serenades, Corritore's got the Blues for you.” – Omaha Reader

HARMONICA BLUES celebrates forty years since Bob Corritore first picked up a harp. He maximized his early proximity to the 1970s Chicago Blues scene, befriending and learning from masters Louis Myers, Eddie Taylor, Robert Lockwood, Jr., Little Willie Anderson, Big Leon Brooks, Lester Davenport, Big Smokey Smothers, Little Mack Simmons, and others. Now the hard work, dedication, love and talent through which Bob has built a remarkable life and career in the Blues are brought to bear on HARMONICA BLUES, fifteen diverse but uniformly rewarding tracks featuring his harp and production, and a virtual Who’s Who of traditional Blues recorded between 1989 and 2009. A listen, or just a glance at the credits, makes it clear how well Bob is able to recruit stellar Blues players, then combine and accompany them in ways that bring the best out of the featured artist. Lockwood’s emphatic and only recording of “That’s All Right,” the Blues classic which he reputedly wrote, is a historic and musical highlight. Koko Taylor, Eddie Shaw, Eddy Clearwater, Henry Gray, Pinetop Perkins, Honeyboy Edwards and Little Milton are other leaders with deep Chicago roots, while Eddie Taylor Jr., Bob Stroger, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Chico Chism, Chris James, Patrick Rynn, Bob Riedy and Jon Hiller contribute as sidemen. But HARMONICA BLUES encompasses far more than Bob’s Chicago background, thanks to the likes of Louisiana Red, Dave Riley, Nappy Brown, Big Pete Pearson, Tomcat Courtney, Chief Schiabutte Gilliame and Carol Fran, and accompanists including Bob Margolin, Kid Ramos, Buddy Reed, David Maxwell and others including some Rhythm Room stalwarts.

ELVIN BISHOP "RED DOG SPEAKS"

"The North Bay-based musician remains one of the genre's most distinctive guitar stylists, melding a slashing attack with a keen ear for melody.“ – East Bay Express

"…careening slide and razor-edged bursts, all delivered with unflagging enthusiasm and wit.” – Rolling Stone

“Németh's harp and Bishop's slide make beautiful old music beautiful again.” – Pittsburgh Post Gazette

"Bishop is a good-hearted soul whose life mission is to entertain to the best of his ability." – Downbeat

Elvin Bishop has been traveling the blues road longer than most, and he’s got the stories to prove it – many of which are contained within the songs on this release. Bishop’s long and varied career has included plenty of side trips along the way as well, from deep down gutbucket Blues played in smoky South Side Chicago taverns, to raucous roadhouse R&B, to good time Rock & Roll on concert stages and festivals around the world. And at every stage along the way, he’s instilled all of his music with passion, creativity, and a healthy helping of wisdom, wit, and good humor. Now following on the heals of his Grammy-nominated CD “The Blues Rolls On”, the legendary Elvin Bishop returns with his brand new release “Red Dog Speaks”. Full of strutting Blues and R&B, good-time Rock & Roll, and even an occasional detour through Doo-Wop, Zydeco, and Gospel, “Red Dog Speaks” is sure to make you howl.

MUSICIANS:
Elvin Bishop, John Németh, Roy Gaines, Tommy Castro, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Stanley “Buckwheat Zydeco” Dural, Kid Andersen, Mike Schermer, Bob Welsh, Ruth Davies, June Core, Bobby Cochrane, and many others!!!

KIRK FLETCHER "MY TURN"

"Fletcher favors toothy Strat tones, stinging bends, and flurries of tight, staccato riffs that seem to pop from his fretboard like little firecrackers."
- Guitar Player Magazine

"Fletcher clearly has ensemble dynamics down, suggesting that his years as a sideman have been fruitful. But he's also unabashed as a bandleader, and his guitar work earns its prominence."
- Blues Revue Magazine

"Kirk Fletcher is a young man with a big reputation... he exudes class and style, knows all the classic licks but never resorts to mere copying, always with his own take in his trick bag."
- Blues & Rhythm Magazine

Now Kirk Fletcher's long awaited return is finally here! Produced by legendary Los Angeles guitarist and close friend Michael Landau, "My Turn" finds Fletcher stretching out instrumentally and exploring new sonic territories on the guitar. In addition, Kirk also makes his surprising vocal debut on two songs which include the Jimmy Reed classic “Found Love,” and an ultra funky version of Sly Stone’s “Let Me Have It All.” This is a project that is very near to Kirk, and one that he just absolutely felt compelled to make. So with the intuitively selected album title of “My Turn,” it would only be appropriate to let Kirk have the last word… ”I am so proud of this record. Though it took a while it was so much fun to get together with my best friends and just play! So here you go and God bless you all.”

THE MANNISH BOYS
"SHAKE FOR ME"

“…an infectious revival of both ’40s jump and ’50s to ’60s Chess-like styles from a band that lives inside the music...”
– Wall Street Journal

“No band makes the old new again
better than The Mannish Boys.”

– Blues Revue Magazine

“It is both refreshing and encouraging to see a song selection that favors a broad range of little-known gems respectfully presented by a deep stable of talent.”
– Living Blues Magazine

2010 heralds the passing of the five year anniversary mark of the birth of Delta Groove Music. Likewise, The Mannish Boys, for whom the label was originally conceived, are similarly celebrating five years of electrifying the blues for audiences the world over. The fundamental concept of the band was simple; assemble a group of like-minded musicians to capture the spirit and joy of this timeless music, and reintroduce it for a whole new generation to appreciate and discover. This project, which was only initially envisioned as a one-time testimony to the power of the blues, has now given way to a new institution privileged with the task of preserving this music and presenting it as a vital, living, breathing entity.

The Mannish Boys fifth album, “Shake For Me,” carries forth the tradition established by their very first effort, “That Represent Man,” by presenting an inspired program of deep, lowdown blues supported by a surprising and ever-revolving unit of world class musicians. Reprising their all-star roles in the band are Finis Tasby, Bobby Jones, Kirk Fletcher, Frank Goldwasser, and Randy Chortkoff, joined here by an entirely new and outstanding rhythm section comprised of Willie J. Campbell on bass (The James Harman Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds) and Jimi Bott on drums (Rod Piazza & The Mighty Flyers, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Woodbrain).

SPECIAL GUESTS:
Rod Piazza, Kid Ramos, Mitch Kashmar, Nick Curran, Mike Zito, Arthur Adams, Johnny Dyers, Lynwood Slim, Rob Rio, Fred Kaplan, Andy Kaulkin, &
"Big Pete" van der Pluijm.
