Elvin Bishop, with the album, The Blues Rolls On, makes this squeaker of a genre continue its tradition in time by swinging it with his hips and adding a lot to the pot. Blues is certainly not mainstream, but from listening to The Blues Rolls On, you would think it is. It's an impressive display that provides a fresh, updated taste of the genre formerly known as a means of justification of self expression. Elvin Bishop proves you don't need to wallow in your own sorrows to sing the blues.

The uplifting tempo and lyrics inspire confidence, as just by the mere sound of Bishop's music, you know he has a distinct swagger that catches the eyes of everyone. An important thing to note about this album and to give credit where credit is due is that Bishop has assembled an impressive lineup to make each song more explosive. These collaborations with different talents allow each song to manifest itself in a different form than the others and reward us with a fresh taste of the blues.

The Blues Rolls On is a tall glass of mystery that refreshes us. It has a lot of ingredients that make for an impressive album. The vocals, collaborations, background instrumentals and array of instruments used; it can't be pinpointed what makes this album a rock steady listen. It's the fusion of perfectly balanced and acceptable, timely usage that puts a positive spin on this genre that could lead to a vast recruitment or expansion. This hip shaker of an album makes the blues for everyone. Who knew the blues could be so good?
