A fun album from a long-time Blues man. Mr. Bishop has had one of the more interesting careers in the Blues business, having started out as part of the Bloomfield/Butterfield Chicago Blues Rock scene of the 60’s, and gone on to be identified with the Southern Rock scene in the 70’s, when he had quite a few radio-friendly hit songs. His output in the last decade has put him firmly in the Blues camp, with a decidedly country tilt. This album teams him with a bunch of the old friends he has gathered over his four-plus-decades of making music. John Nemeth and Angela Strehli provide the vocals for a reading of the Ray Charles classic Night Time is the Right Time (2). Mr. Bishop re-visits one of those 70’s hits with some help from Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes on Struttin’ My Stuff (4). B.B. King and Lucille lend their voices to Keep a Dollar in Your Pocket (5). The Homemade Jamz band adds their youthful touch to Jr. Well’s Come on in This House (9).
