LOS FABULOCOS FEATURING KID RAMOS
Source: Hampton Roads
Date: 10/2008

Writer: Eric Feber

For a sizzling jolt of Cali-Mex rock in all its spicy musical glory, look no further than the party sounds of Los Fabulocos, a Golden State version of the legendary Texas Tornados. Anchored by lead singer/button accordionist Jesus Cuevas and guitarist extraordinaire Kid Ramos, the quartet offers danceable roots-Americana grooves soaked in a heavy Mexican, blues and rock marinade.

Ramos holds the proceedings together with his tasty lead and rhythm guitar work, honed over years of extensive solo work and a stint with the Fabulous Thunderbirds. In fact, the 'Locos sound like the T-Birds if they'd grown up in East L.A., with touches of The Blazers and early Los Lobos. With Ramos' solid leads and rhythm riffs and Cuevas' swinging squeeze box and honeyed vocals, the foursome creates infectious music perfect for a blues barbecue or a Cinco de Mayo block party. Solid Cuevas originals rendered in English and Spanish dance alongside greasy rocking covers.
For a rocking good time with surfed-up rockin' blues, nortenas and cumbias, these boys will drive you loco.
