Los Fabulocos feat. Kid Ramos, Los Fabulocos

I can’t help but think about early Los Lobos as I listen to this bluesy roots band with strains of  Mexican accordion playing against rockabilly beats and Kid Ramos’ high energy guitar.  Though the similarities are hard to miss, this is no imitation.  The songs and the playing all display originality and purpose.  I like the Elvis-in-Tijuana of Crazy Baby (3), as well as the very different one chord groove of Day after Day (6), and the accordion-heavy You Keep Drinkin’ (9).
