Have you heard that Mitch Kashmar is making a return appearance for Deejay Throwdown on March 5? Have you heard that Mitch Kashmar has a new CD out? Now, ain’t that a coincidence? Delta Groove Music recently released Mitch Kashmar…Live At Labatt. This special recording of his performance at the 9th Annual Edmonton’s Labatt Blues Festival was captured by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation at the festival. Joining Mitch on stage at the festival are John Marx, William Clarke’s guitarist, on guitar, Jimmy Calire on piano and organ, Steve Nelson on bass and Tom Lackner on drums. Tom was one of the original members of The Pontiax, along with Mitch. Did you know that Mitch was with The Pontiax? They gave us the song, Gonna Find Someone New, that was on their Belgium import album, 100 Miles To Go. The key number on Live At Labatt is Dirty Deal. This live recording of the song, which was first released on his album, Nickels And Dimes, allows Mitch to stretch out instrumentally. In 2006, Mitch was recognized with a Blues Music Award nomination for Best New Blues Artist, and, the following year, for Instrumentalist of the Year-Harmonica. Another piece of trivia about Mitch, that you may not know, is that he is a touring member of the 70’s funk-rock band, War. His music is featured in the 2008 movie, The Love Guru, starring Mike Myers. It is going to be great having him at the upcoming Throwdown.
