JACKIE PAYNE STEVE EDMONSON BAND "OVERNIGHT SENSATION"

|
The dynamic duo of vocalist Jackie Payne and guitarist Steve Edmonson return to the spotlight with yet another soul/blues gem on their latest recording "Overnight Sensation." But don't let the album title fool you; these two have been at it for years honing their skills and perfecting their craft with countless appearances on stages at festivals and clubs around the globe including a three month stint in Thailand, right after the big tsunami of 2004.
Their Delta Groove debut “Master of the Game” was heralded by critics and fans alike topping many year-end lists by DJs and radio programmers across the country. The album also garnered a 2007 Blues Music Award nomination for Soul Blues Album of the Year, while vocalist Jackie Payne has now been recognized by The Blues Foundation two consecutive years in a row earning two BMA nominations for Soul Blues Male Artist of the Year.
On their sophomore effort for Delta Groove, Jackie Payne and Steve Edmonson demonstrate once again their mastery of the fine art of timeless Rhythm & Blues delivered with style and flair that recall the classic sounds of Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding and Bobby "Blue" Bland. “Overnight Sensation” is a terrific example of this dynamic and wickedly tight band, which also features bassist Bill Singletary and drummer Nick Otis, along with the “Sweet Meet Horns” consisting of Carl Green on tenor and alto sax and Lech Wierzynski on trumpet, as they take an explosive romp through another sweaty set of Gospel, Soul, Blues and R&B.

MIKE ZITO "TODAY'"

|
“Today” showcases Zito’s music in a distinctly contemporary setting, without any gimmicks or artifice. The producers perfectly captured the earthy essence and intimacy of Zito’s voice and the driving intensity of his music, creating a recording that sounds simultaneously comfortable and familiar, yet urgently fresh and vital. With all the pieces now in place, the time is right for Zito to break through as a major voice on the contemporary music scene.
Singer, guitarist and songwriter Mike Zito grew up in St. Louis, immersed in the gritty and soulful sounds of the city’s south side that would help provide the groundwork for his future in music. He began singing and performing at the age of five and has been touring heavily since the age of nineteen. But throwing himself headfirst into the pursuit of his art had a toll, and Zito paid it. The non-stop Rock ‘n’ Roll lifestyle led to a dark and dangerous period during which Zito came close to destroying all that he’d worked so hard to establish. It took time, but thankfully, with the help and intervention of friends and supporters in the music business, loved ones, and the woman who would become his wife, Zito regained his faith in himself and his music, cleaned up his act, and settled down in Southeast Texas to begin anew.
With a clean slate, a fresh outlook, and a new found dedication to his music, Zito now embraces a positive message of hope and redemption; illuminating his music with a deeper relevance and validity, while elevating his craft to all new artistic heights. Together with producers David Z and Tony Braunagel, Zito’s previously untapped potential is fully realized and complimented by an assemblage of world class musicians that can best be described as “The Dream Team.” Joining Zito on “Today” are bassist James “Hutch” Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt, Boz Scaggs, Joe Cocker), keyboardist Benmont Tench (Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash), drummer Tony Braunagel (Eric Burdon, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal) and Michito Sanchez (Joe Walsh, Elton John, Crosby, Stills & Nash) on percussion.

Sean Costello "We Can Get Together"

|
"Bluesy original songs arranged in classic soul style and delivered with a ravaged intensity." – Mojo Magazine
"Costello's sleek and gritty vocals are as passionate as his musical performances..." - Living Blues Magazine
"Of all the young blues lions out there brandishing their electric guitars, Costello is the one who's got his head and heart into the deep blues." - All Music Guide
A primarily self-taught guitarist, Sean Costello won the Beale Street Blues Society’s new talent award when he was only 14 years old. Costello’s impressive debut “Call the Cops” arrived in ‘96 at the tender age of 16, quickly establishing his reputation in the blues community while most other kids were out earning their driver’s licenses. In 1998, Costello contributed his tasteful lead guitar work on Susan Tedeschi’s gold-certified debut smash “Just Won’t Burn” and was also a featured member of her touring band.
In 2000, Costello released his long awaited follow up album “Cuttin’ In,” earning himself a nomination for Best New Artist Debut by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN. Costello has since released two additional highly praised recordings and shared the stages with many of his inspirational heroes including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Pinetop Perkins and Bo Diddley. A cover story appeared in the February/March 2002 issue of Blues Revue Magazine and more recently, Costello’s talents were enlisted for the comeback recording “Long Time Coming” by ‘50s rhythm & blues pioneer Nappy Brown.
Widely recognized as a gifted and accomplished guitarist, Sean Costello now delivers his strongest and most mature effort of his career. On his Delta Groove debut, Costello further refines his approach by balancing his blistering red hot guitar work, along with soulful, confident vocals and expertly crafted songs. As the world continues to experience the loss of so many originators of the art form, you can rest assured that the future of the blues is in capable hands.

you need look no further.” – Blues Wax
“Taj Mahal’s backing band steps out on its own to cook up a horn-swaddled,
contemporary blues gumbo for your booty.” – Goldmine Magazine

The resulting effort is an all new platter that serves up a savory and zesty blend of Gospel, R&B, Soul, Funk, Reggae, Jazz and Blues.
With a proven track record that includes two Grammys and a W.C. Handy Award for their previous work with Taj Mahal, as well as countless appearances by individual members on recordings and in concert by such heavyweight artists as Bonnie Raitt, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, B.B. King, Andrew Tosh, Eric Burdon, Smokey Robinson, Buddy Guy and the Rolling Stones, you can expect the Phantom Blues Band to continue to follow in the “Footprints” of sleeping giants and leave their own impressions behind for the world to discover.

“As a lover of live music, a JRNB show is absolutely exhilarating. "Ricci links the jazz mastery of Howard Levy, with the blues precision of Jerry Portnoy and hits speeds that make John Popper look like he's standing still." - Brad Kava (Mercury News)
Jason Ricci is that rare individual that only comes along once in a generation - an artist with the unique ability to help shape and redefine the sound of his chosen instrument and forever change the course of music history. His style is varied and his influences far reaching, having spent countless hours absorbing everything from Sun Ra to Little Walter, the Rolling Stones to the Pixies, Lou Reed to Government Mule, and everything in between. The depth of his music crisscrosses the audible landscape leaving no stone unturned as he fully explores blues, jazz, funk, rock, punk, and even drawing inspiration from the current crop of jam bands, all while still retaining the stamp of his own inimitable style.

Together with guitarist Shawn Starsky, who brings with him an arsenal of creative talent and fresh ideas, and Grammy Award winning producer John Porter at the helm, Jason Ricci & New Blood have created a visionary and sonically explosive masterpiece that is sure to shake your foundations.
